When Ricky confronts Nate he reveals that Sophie has a history of mental health issues. He reveals that when he originally called time on the marriage, she attempted to run him over. Pryor said that it was a difficult situation for Nate because he does love Sophie. "Nate believes that tough love is the only approach here." Sophie is upset and begins to forget what day it is. Sophie cannot deal with the "harsh reality" that her marriage is over.
Zac eventually teams up with Ethan's sister-in-law Hannah to try to get the children out of the cult, but it proves difficult and Ethan is "hard to fight." The character has also been described as being "controlling". Carena Crawford from All About Soap branded the character "Evil Ethan". Chris Harrington, played by Johnny Ruffo, made his first screen appearance on 1 April 2013.

Sophie becomes jealous of their friendship and annoyed when she witnesses Nate consoling Hannah. Nate becomes unhappy with Sophie and his attraction to Hannah grows and the pair kiss. Pryor told Stephen Downie from TV Week that "it's a spur of the moment thing" as Nate too had been in denial. He has relationship problems with Sophie but continues to protest she is imagining the attraction.
On 1 March 2015, it was announced that Morley had quit Home and Away after two years to pursue acting opportunities in the United States. She becomes convinced that Nate is sleeping with his colleague Hannah Wilson . Her accusation is not unfounded as Hannah is secretly in love with Nate.

Ricky and Nate later admit that they have feelings for each other, and they have sex. Kat and Nate get back together, despite Nate's feelings for Ricky. Ricky tries to persuade Kyle not to leave the Bay and he kisses her. She turned to Nate Cooper for help and he suggested that she might be pregnant. Kyle offered her his support and agreed not to tell his brothers when she asked. Before Ricky could tell Brax about the pregnancy, he ended their relationship.
While on a date, Mullens rapes Rosie and she initially blames herself for what has happened. Rosie attends Zac MacGuire's self-defence classes and befriends Bella Lugrano (Hayley Mitchell-Miller), who later tells her that she was raped by Mullens too. The next day, Bella meets up with Rosie and Sasha at the Diner and tells them that she reported her rape to the police. One of Mullens's friends, Lachlan Stone stalks Rosie and scares her. At self-defence, she becomes frightened when Lachlan shows up and Maddy, Tamara and Sasha try to comfort her. Zac asks Lachlan to leave, but he explains that he just wants to talk to Rosie, as he has Mullens's text messages and videos of her rape.
Marriage to Nate and Brax's return
Addario told Downie that the story was designed to test Nate and Kat's relationship. She called it a "vicious lie" that threatens to destroy Nate's integrity and career. Nate and Kat notice Billie floating face down in the sea and Nate rescues her.
Sveen also said that Ricky had not stopped loving Brax, but it was easier to forget about him with the distance. During a Yahoo7 feature on Ricky's love triangle, Sveen admitted that she felt "very challenged" by the scripts for her character's new romance with Nate. A few months later, Brax started acting out of character when the Barrett brothers turned up in the Bay.

As they talk about settling in, they cautiously wonder whether they'll get to stay this time and it's clear they're hiding a huge secret... Steve Peacocke has reprised his role as Brax for a handful of new scenes, which see the popular character invited back by his love rival Nate Cooper. Spencer gets into a relationship with Sasha Bezmel , and Maddy is jealous. They have sex within weeks of becoming a couple, further infuriating Maddy. Chris returns to the Bay to try and win Sasha's sister Indi Walker back, and he argues with Sasha, trapping Spencer in the middle again.
Sophie's mental state deteriorates and she begins to behave more obsessively towards Nate and later stalks him. Nate tries to distance himself from her further but she lures him to her hotel room and knocks him unconscious. She pours petrol around the room and threatens to start a fire with a candle. It took a series of thirteen scenes shot over an entire day.
Kyle and Tamara team up to organise a music festival to unite the Summer Bay and Mangrove River students. Kyle is surprised when his ex-girlfriend, Phoebe Nicholson, arrives to perform at the festival. Kyle notices Evelyn and Oscar MacGuire being kidnapped and tries to intervene but is overpowered.
Brax is sent to prison for fifteen years, while Ricky agrees to support Josh. Ricky argues with Kyle when she learns that he warned her friend Nate Cooper away from her. Andrew "Andy" Barrett, played by Tai Hara, made his first screen appearance on 28 August 2013. The character and Hara's casting was reported by Debbie Schipp from The Daily Telegraph on 3 August 2013. Of being cast in Home and Away, Hara commented "I thought how lucky I was. It's just a real privilege to be on a show that is so loved." Andy was introduced to the show along with his younger brother Josh . The characters first appeared in online webisodes, which explored their backgrounds.
